Karis was born out of the lack of size inclusivity within the world of protective sports equipment, specifically for women. We believe that when players feel protected, they are going to play their best. We offer catcher’s equipment that is completely customizable, whether that be size, color, protection level, or pattern. We, at Karis, don’t believe in traditional sizing names, we base our sizing system off of empowerment and qualities intrinsic to our athletes. Karis wants for our athletes, of any size, age, and competition level, to feel empowered, confident, and safe.

All of our products are made with recycled and environmentally conscious fabrics. We only use naturally dyed, recycled, or organic fabrics and partner with local artists and ethical print shops for our equipment.

Eco-friendly alternative to traditional leather.
SCOBY-based leather obviously doesn’t require animals, is biodegradable, requires zero heavy metals and other tanning chemicals, and is significantly cheaper than genuine leather, too.
Eco-friendly alternative to nylon.
This fabric is made from waste materials such as industrial plastic and fishing nets; closed-loop process.
Eco-friendly athletic fabric.
Made from the wood pulp of the eucalyptus tree. The fiber is produced with minimal impact on the environment – using a non-toxic solvent that is continually recycled during the production process – and economical use of energy and water. Further, eucalyptus requires fewer pesticides and far less acreage to grow than cotton, thus it is much more eco-friendly. The fabric made from Lyocell is breathable and naturally wrinkle-resistant.
Eco-friendly alternative to polyester.
Unlike many fibers used in today’s apparel industry, hemp is grown without the use of harmful chemicals, pesticides, herbicides, or fertilizers. It is also a high-yield crop that grows very rapidly and with little irrigation (50% less than cotton), making it a very appealing and “clean” option for designers. Other benefits of hemp: tensile strength and durability (8x that of cotton), hypoallergenic, breathable, and UV resistant.
Eco-friendly alternative to manufactured plastic.
Bioplastics are plastic materials produced from renewable biomass sources, such as vegetable fats and oils, corn starch, straw, woodchips, sawdust, recycled food waste, etc. Using bio-based polybutylene succinates, such as sugarcane cassava and corn, BioPBS can be disposed of along with the organic waste. It is naturally compostable and does not require a composting facility.
Eco-friendly alternative to foam.
An alternative to polyurethane foam, designed to be completely biodegradable, is made from a blend of coconut fiber and natural latex. No dyes, bleaches, or chemical cleaning agents are used during the manufacturing process. This specialty foam comes in different thicknesses and levels of firmness.
Eco-friendly alternative to manufactured steel.
Carbon fiber is an environmentally friendly material. Carbon fiber is manufactured by refining oil to obtain acrylonitrile and then spinning this acrylonitrile and baking the spun yarn. Several companies now exist to recycle carbon fibre composite waste.
